Why Protect a PDF?
Protecting a PDF with a password prevents unauthorised access and controls what recipients can do with the document. Swipse uses 256-bit AES encryption — the same standard used by banks and governments.
Password Types
- Open Password: Required to open and view the document at all.
- Permissions Password: Controls what an authorised user can do (print, copy, edit). The document can be opened without this password, but restricted actions are blocked.
Available Restrictions
- Prevent printing
- Prevent copying text and images
- Prevent editing and form filling
- Prevent adding annotations or comments
