SRINAGAR: There are currently two active COVID-19 cases in Kashmir, following the positive test results of two students from the Government Dental College (GDC) Srinagar five days ago.

A senior health official said both students, originally from Kerala, had recently returned to the college after visiting their home state and began experiencing mild symptoms. โ€œThey were sent to GMC Srinagar for testing, where both tested positive for COVID-19,โ€ the official said.

He confirmed that the students have been isolated inside the hostel, and separate washroom facilities have been arranged as a precautionary measure. โ€œTheir condition is stable, and there is no need for concern at this point,โ€ the official added.

The official further said the students will be retested after two days, as per COVID-19 protocol. โ€œThe situation is completely under control, but necessary precautions must continue,โ€ he said.

โ€œAt present, there is no alarming situation in Kashmir. The infection appears mild and manageable,โ€ the official said. (JKNS)
