Public Urged to Stay Indoors and Hydrated Amid Heat; Light Rain Expected After June 14

Srinagar, June 11 (JKNS): The Director of the Meteorological Department, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, has forecast continued hot and dry weather across Jammu and Kashmir, with a short period of light rainfall anticipated later this week.

Speaking to JKNS, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad stated that from June 11 to 13, the region will experience predominantly hot and dry conditions. However, between June 14 and 17, there is a possibility of light rain or thundershowers in some areas, which may be accompanied by thunder and gusty winds. The weather is expected to revert to hot and dry conditions from June 18 to 20.

The MET Centre Srinagar has also issued a heatwave advisory, warning of severe heat at several locations in J&K over the next three days.

Citizens have been advised to consume plenty of fluids, stay indoors during peak heat hours (12 noon to 4 PM), and avoid strenuous outdoor activities. Meanwhile, farmers have been advised to continue regular agricultural operations.

The advisory comes amidst rising daytime temperatures, with many parts of Jammu and Kashmir recording well above-normal maximums. (JKNS)
