The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have already issued over 9,000 appointment letters this year and are planning to recruit more than 50,000 candidates in the financial year 2025-26, demonstrating a strong push towards expanding their workforce and streamlining the hiring process.
According to a press release from the Railway Ministry, since November 2024, RRBs have conducted Computer Based Tests (CBTs) for over 1.86 crore applicants across seven different recruitment notifications covering a total of 55,197 vacancies.
“This will enable RRBs to offer appointments to more than 50,000 candidates in financial year 2025-26. More than 9,000 appointments have already been issued by RRBs in first quarter of this financial year,” it added.
To enhance recruitment integrity, the ministry introduced E-KYC based Aadhar authentication, achieving over 95% success in authenticating candidate identities.
Additionally, jammers are deployed across exam centres to eliminate cheating through electronic devices.
SPECIAL INITIATIVES FOR CANDIDATES
The RRBs have focused on easing the examination process for candidates by allocating exam centres closer to residences, with special preferences for women and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).
This reflects a commitment to making the recruitment process more accessible.
Since 2024, the RRBs have issued 12 notifications covering 1,08,324 vacancies. This drive aligns with the annual calendar and aims to address staffing needs across departments. Efforts will continue with an additional 50,000 appointments planned for 2026-27.
The RRBs are leveraging technology to improve recruitment. The use of E-KYC and jammers represents a significant advancement in ensuring exam security and reliability.
FUTURE OUTLOOK
The Railway Ministry’s commitment to improving recruitment processes and expanding its workforce is evident in these initiatives.
The press note stated, “E-KYC based Aadhar authentication has been used to authenticate identity of candidates for the first time in such large-scale exams achieving more than 95% success.”
“Jammers are now being deployed 100 % across all exam centers of RRBs to eliminate scope of cheating through electronic devices,” the press note added.
