Ration Card Update: If you are receiving benefits under any government ration or welfare scheme, it is important to complete the e-KYC (electronic Know Your Customer) process by June 30, 2025. The government has made e-KYC compulsory for all ration card holders. Only four days remain to finish this process.

Ration Card Notice: If you are availing benefits from government ration or any related scheme, ensure that you complete your e-KYC (electronic Know Your Customer) by June 30, 2025. The government has made e-KYC mandatory for all ration card holders. With only four days remaining, it is crucial to act quickly. Failure to complete the process by the deadline could result in the cancellation of your ration card, and you may no longer receive subsidized or free ration.

Why is e-KYC of ration card necessary?

The government’s aim is to make the ration distribution process transparent and corruption free. It has often been seen that some people take advantage of ration with fake ration cards or despite being ineligible. In some cases, ration is taken in the name of a person even after his death.

To prevent all these irregularities, the government has started the e-KYC process. Under this process, the identity of the ration card holder and his family members is linked to the Aadhar card, so that it can be ensured that only genuine and needy people get the benefit.

Earlier the deadline was 31 March, now the deadline has been extended

Earlier the government had set the last date for e-KYC as 31 March 2025, but many people faced problems due to technical difficulties and lack of information. Therefore, now the date has been extended to 30 June 2025.

How to get e-KYC done?

1. Offline method

  • Go to your nearest ration shop or Common Service Centre (CSC).
  • Carry: Ration card and Aadhaar cards of all family members.
  • There, biometric verification (thumb or face) will be done through the POS machine.
  • Your ration card will be linked to Aadhaar

2. Online method:

  • Download apps like Mera Ration or Aadhaar Face RD.
  • Enter Aadhaar number, verify with OTP.
  • Scan face with camera.
  • After the process is completed, e-KYC will be considered successful.

What if KYC is not done on time?

  • Ration card may be cancelled.
  • The benefits of government schemes will stop.
  • The name will be removed from the beneficiary list.
  • An application will have to be made to get it restarted.

What to do if the name is deleted?

  • Contact the nearest food supply office or ration shop
  • Apply again with correct documents.
  • Get any errors in documents corrected (like wrong mobile number or Aadhaar).

If you are dependent on government ration or any scheme, then get e-KYC done without delay. This process is absolutely free and does not take much time. Keep the Aadhaar and ration card of all your family members with you and if needed, seek help from the nearest Jan Suvidha Kendra. This step of the government is a big effort towards providing help to the needy at the right time.
