SRINAGAR: Reacting to reports of Kashmiri students facing harassment in different states outside Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah stated on Thursday that he is in touch with the chief ministers of those states.

CM Omar shared in a post on X that the Jammu and Kashmir government is communicating with the authorities in the states where these incidents have been reported. He added that he is personally in contact with the chief ministers of those states and has asked them to ensure additional care is taken.

People’s Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti said that she had spoken with the home minister, urging him to intervene following reports of threats made against Kashmiri students and traders.

“I spoke with Home Minister Amit Shah to extend my deepest condolences and express solidarity with the bereaved families of the Pahalgam terror attack. We stand with the nation in this hour of mourning. I also requested him to intervene as certain elements are openly threatening Kashmiri students and traders across various states,” she stated.

“There have been many incidents across the country wherein Kashmiri students are being harassed, beaten up, bullied and even asked to vacate their residential premises. I request the Union government to please ensure the safety of Kashmiri students,” People’s Conference chairman Sajad Lone said in a post on X.
