Kupwara Student Dies a Day After JEE Results, Sparks Mental Health Concerns
Faisal Bashir, 19, a JEE aspirant from Gunipora, Kupwara, was found dead in his rented room at Dudwana on Saturday afternoon — just a day after the National Testing Agency (NTA) declared the JEE results.
He had been preparing at a local coaching centre and was reportedly under intense academic pressure in the days leading up to the exam.
Hospital sources termed the death “mysterious”, and his body has been sent for medico-legal formalities. Police have launched an investigation.
Locals remembered Faisal as a bright and well-mannered student. “He was always focused and respectful. We never saw any signs of stress,” a neighbour said.
Another student pointed to the suffocating pressure students face. “The race for marks and ranks is killing our generation silently,” he said.
This incident has once again highlighted the urgent need to address mental health issues among Kashmiri students, especially those appearing in high-pressure exams like JEE and NEET.
