J&K Govt says proposal under examination

On March 24, the Jammu & Kashmir Government stated that the proposal to provide 12 free gas cylinders to residents of the region is still under review. In response to a query by Peoples Conference MLA Sajad Gani Lone, Satish Sharma, the Minister for Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs, mentioned that the matter is currently being examined.

The minister stated, according to the Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that the matter is being reviewed by the government, and every effort is being made to honor the commitments.

Lone had inquired whether the government intends to provide 12 gas cylinders free of cost and if so, the timeline for its implementation.

The promise to provide 12 cylinders free of cost every year to Economically Weaker Sections(EWS) of the society in J&K was originally made in the manifesto of National Conference for 2014 UT polls.

In November last year, Satish Sharma had said the formal announcement on providing 12 gas cylinders a year to the people of J&K will be made shortly.

“ Modalities are being finalized and very soon the formal announcement regarding double ration and 12 gas cylinders will be made public,” he had said—(KNO)
