
The Jammu & Kashmir Government informed the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday that it has no intention of offering a stipend to unemployed youth in the Union Territory.
In response to a question from MLA Samba Devinder Kumar Manyal, Labour & Employment Minister Surinder Choudhary stated in a written reply that there are no plans to provide such financial support to jobless youth.
“Currently there is no such plan to provide a stipend to the unemployed youth in the UT of J&K,” the minister said.
The minister also disclosed that 370811 unemployed youth are registered with the government.
Of them, 2, 13,007 are registered with the Department in Kashmir Valley and 1,57,804 in Jammu, the minister said.
Listing out steps to provide employment to unemployed youth, the minister said all the departments refer their vacant posts after fulfillment of codal formalities to Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission and Services Selection Board.
“The Employment Department is organizing career counselling on a regular basis for unemployed youth that helps them to explore career options in different avenues,” he said—(KNO)
