On February 21, the government made a positive move by promoting over 80 headmasters to the role of Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) through the Look After ZDU. This decision has been well-received by both teachers and students in the education sector. The Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) had previously highlighted the delay in promotions for headmasters, ZEOs, and principals. After discussions with the government, a resolution was found, and the promotion list was subsequently released.

Provincial President of JKTF, Bhat Javeed, expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Education Minister Sakina Itoo, and other officials for their efforts in resolving the matter. He acknowledged their role in addressing the concerns of teachers and non-teaching staff who faced difficulties due to the delay in promotions.

“This decision is a great relief for the education sector. It will improve administration in schools and benefit both teachers and students,” Bhat Javeed said.
The JKTF had actively pursued the issue with the government, emphasizing the need for timely promotions to ensure smooth functioning of schools. The latest development has brought relief to many in the education community.
Teachers and staff members have welcomed the decision, hoping for further reforms to strengthen the education system in Jammu and Kashmir. (KNS)
