DSEK Urges Schools to Get Approval Before Organizing Picnics
Emphasizes Student Safety as Top Priority
Srinagar, Apr 13 (KNO): In the wake of a recent tragic bus accident that resulted in the loss of two students’ lives, Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK), G. N. Itoo, on Sunday issued a directive to all educational institutions in the Valley. The advisory mandates that schools must obtain prior approval before arranging any picnics or excursions.
Speaking to Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Itoo stressed that schools are not allowed to plan such outings without formal permission from the relevant authorities, such as the Chief Education Officer or other designated officials.
He further emphasised that local authorities should be notified ahead of time wherever their presence or support is required.
Itoo also stated that teachers must remain with the students throughout the duration of such trips, and all necessary precautions, including those related to transportation and logistical planning, should be carefully arranged in advance.
“Picnics are an important part of school life, and students certainly deserve to enjoy them. However, their safety must be fully ensured before any such activity takes place,” he said—(KNO).
