
ACB Arrests SPO for Accepting Rs 5,000 Bribe
Jammu, May 3 (JKNS): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday apprehended a Special Police Officer (SPO) during a raid conducted at the GMC Bakshi Nagar Police Post in Jammu.
According to official sources cited by JKNS, SPO Himanshu Sharma was caught in the act while taking a bribe of ₹5,000 from a street vendor near the Government Medical College, Jammu.
Sources said the ACB had received a complaint alleging that the SPO, who also worked as the driver of the police post, was collecting weekly payments from street vendors and harassing them regularly.
After verifying the allegations, ACB laid a trap and apprehended the SPO while receiving the bribe amount.
Sources further added that Murtza Rahman, the in-charge of the police post, was also taken in for questioning in connection with the case, it was not known immediately whether Murtaza was also arrested formally.
The bureau has registered a case, and further investigation is underway. (JKNS)
