MeT Predicts Brief Rain Spells Till Sept 12, Advises Farmers to Resume Paddy Harvesting & Farm Operations

Farmers urged to resume paddy harvesting, other agricultural activities

Srinagar, Sep 09: The Meteorological Department has forecast mainly fair weather conditions across Jammu and Kashmir, with chances of brief showers at isolated places over the next three days.

As per details shared with the Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, Director of the MeT Department, said the region is likely to witness mostly clear skies until September 12. However, he added that there is also a possibility of light rainfall at some locations during this period.

He added that on September 13, generally cloudy weather is expected, with the possibility of one or two spells of light rain and thundershower at many places in J&K, with moderate showers over a few districts of Jammu division.

The MeT Director said that from September 14 to 15, generally cloudy weather is expected, with the possibility of rain and thunder showers at a few places.

Moreover, the MeT in its advisory has stated that there is a possibility of landslides, shooting stones, etc., at a few vulnerable places. The farmers have been advised to resume harvesting of paddy and other farm operations from today onwards till the evening of September 12.

Pertinently, KNO has already reported that Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed an excess rainfall of 41 per cent since June 1, 2025, to September 3, 2025. Only three stations across the region, including Kishtwar, Kupwara, and Shopian, have recorded a deficit rainfall of 33 per cent, 20 per cent, and 57 per cent, respectively—(KNO)
