The Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST), Awantipora, Kashmir, has announced an online call for applications from qualified candidates for the position of Contractual Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science for the 2025 academic session.

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Educational Qualification:
2. Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Computer Applications with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC non-creamy layer) or an equivalent grade from a recognized Indian university, or possess an equivalent qualification from an accredited foreign university.
3. Additional Requirement:
4. Applicants should have qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC/CSIR or an equivalent test recognized by the UGC (such as SLET/SET), or possess a Ph.D. in accordance with UGC regulations.
5. Note:
6. The requirement of NET/SLET/SET is waived for specific Master’s degree programs where such examinations are not conducted by the UGC/CSIR or other approved bodies.

Emoluments

• PG (excluding Arch): Rs. 45,000/- per month
• NET/SET/GATE: Rs. 48,000/- per month
• Ph.D.: Rs. 50,000/- per month
• NET/SET/GATE and Ph.D.: Rs. 50,000/- per month

Tenure

• Initially for the year 2025, ending 31st December 2025 or till the post is filled on a substantive basis (whichever is earlier).
• Extendable based on performance, feedback, and university requirements.

Leaves/Vacations

• As per university rules for such engagements.

Application Process

• Apply online through the IUST website and pay a non-refundable fee of Rs. 300/-.
• Submit a hard copy of the application form along with self-attested documents to the Head of the Department’s office on any working day before the last submission date.
• Applications without hardcopy submission will not be considered.

Selection Procedure

• Shortlisting will be done as per UGC Regulations 2018.
• For one post, 20 candidates will be shortlisted; for every additional post, 5 more candidates will be added.
• Final selection will be based on interview performance only.
• The selection panel will remain valid for one year.

• Last date for online application submission: 18-08-2025 (Monday) up to 04:30 PM
• Last date for submission of hard copy: 19-08-2025 (Tuesday)

Terms & Conditions

• Applications must be submitted via the university portal www.iust.ac.in.
• No TA/DA will be provided for appearing in the interview.
• Research experience without taking leave (part-time) will be counted with proper certification.
• Publications in UGC-CARE-listed journals only will be considered for academic purposes.
• Jurisdiction for disputes will be confined to the courts of Srinagar only.
• Candidates with foreign degrees must provide an Equivalence Certificate from AIU, New Delhi.
• The university reserves the right to modify, withdraw, or cancel the recruitment process at any stage.
• One month’s notice or salary in lieu is required for resignation or termination.
