The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has released a new weather forecast for Jammu and Kashmir, indicating a change in weather patterns starting from today, June 24, and expected to persist into early July. The update includes warnings of rain and thunderstorms, along with a precautionary advisory for the general public and farmers.

Forecast Overview

  • 24th June:
    The weather is expected to remainย generally hot and humidย across most parts of the Union Territory. However,ย brief spells of rain or thundershowersย may occur at scattered locations.
  • 25th to 27th June:
    Generally cloudy skiesย withย intermittent light to moderate rain/thundershowersย are expected in many areas.
    โš ๏ธ There is alsoย a possibility of heavy rainย atย isolated locations of the Jammu Division.
  • 28th to 30th June:
    Scattered rain/thundershower activityย may continue intermittently across the region.
  • 1st to 2nd July:
    Similar patternย of intermittent rain and thundershowers likely at scattered places.

Important Advisory โš 

The MET department has urged the public and farmers to take necessary precautions as adverse weather conditions may cause disruptions:

  • Moderate to heavy rainfallย withย intense showersย expected atย some locations in Jammu Divisionย fromย 25th to 27th June.
  • Flash floodsย may occur inย vulnerable areas, especially in hilly terrain.
  • Risk ofย landslides, mudslides, andย shooting stonesย in mountainous regions.
  • Waterloggingย is likely inย low-lying areas of Jammu plains.
  • Rising water levelsย expected inย rivers and local nallahs.
  • Farmersย are advised toย suspend irrigation, pesticide spraying, and fertilizer applicationsย during this period to prevent crop damage.
